Rating of 4 pm – 6 pm session with 10 being the best: 8
Ice was smooth and fast with good glide, great day for skating!
FYI, remember only 4 pm – 6 pm speed skating session and 7 pm – 9 pm public skating session tomorrow. Normal weekend schedule.
Posted by ORDA today, the schedule for March 5-11.
Rating of 4 pm – 6 pm session, with 10 being the best: 7.5
Ice was slow and had light snow covering but not too bad. Not much glide but ice was intact (no bumps or rough spots from what I could see).
This weekend was the last Lake Placid Speed Skating Club meet of the season, the Lake Placid Marathon Finale. Here’s a glimpse of the 42K race:
Rating of ice conditions on 4 pm – 6 pm sessions:
Ice was smooth and fairly fast with good glide.
Ice was slightly softer and very little glide, light snow cover.
Rating for the 4 pm – 6 pm session (from 1-10, with 10 being the best): 8.5
The ice was smoother AND faster today–rejoice!
I have been reminded that there is a split session 7 pm – 9 pm tonight, before the marathon begins approximately 9:30 pm.
As per ORDA management, the 7 pm – 9 pm session on Friday February 27 will be a SPLIT session, meaning speed skaters will be able to skate on the inner lane and public skaters (figure and hockey) on the outer lane.
Rating of 4 pm – 6 pm session, from 1-10 with 10 being best–8
Ice was smooth and fairly fast but not optimal glide.
Please keep in mind that this weekend is the Lake Placid Marathon Finale on the Oval. So there will be no 10-12 speed skating sessions on Saturday and Sunday due to the marathon.
Schedules to be posted as they become available.
Despite what the venue schedule says for this weekend’s skating schedule (posted in the post below), the Lake Placid Marathon Finale is this weekend so there probably won’t be a morning session. Barring any other unforeseen conflicts, the 4-6 session should remain.
Keep watching for a schedule from the oval to be posted, which should include these race times.
